The wrong ladder

I have been climbing up a career ladder that I was sure of I wanted to climb. I've been working hard on getting that dream job after graduating. Cause that's what you do right?

Getting that dream job was followed by working hard for that first promotion, and then for the next promotion, climbing up as fast as I could to just be better than everybody else. To be faster than everybody else. To prove to myself (and everybody else) that I was capable, smart and talented. Just to name a few reasons, there were many more reasons to be honest. Conscious and unconscious reasons.

I eventually realised I was climbing the wrong ladder though.Sooner or later when you climb the wrong ladder you'll hit a wall.  Everyone hitting that wall will experience it in some form either physically or mentally. Mostly one is followed by the other but if you have ignored all signs then you'll probably hit the jackpot by experiencing both at the same time.

How do you know you are climbing up the wrong ladder and how can you prevent yourself from hitting that wall?

Jack Canfield explains it quite simply in this 1 minute video.
